dyno time !

The Falken / Discount IS350 was put on a chassis dyno
at MD Motorsports in Westminster. We used their DynoJet
and Nathan from Motec came to fine tune the car.

What was our horsepower ?

That's a secret !

ps. Thank you Taka-san for taking these videos for me !!!
Hope your ear drums are still ok . . . . .

Today . . . . . .

I ate this JDM snack.
It's called "Caprico" and I bought the 5 pack version,
so it comes with chocolate and strawberry flavors.

And I picked up the new wing from APR Performance.
It is the GTC300 series with mid-high mounts. This
should give us more downforce and look much more
proportional compared to the smaller wing I had before.

Almost ready for Seattle !!!

today's dessert is. . . .

This !
Do you know what it is ?
It's JDM. but kind of a cheaper JDM.

I was watching the JDM TV program
"Suiyou Doudeshou?" (How about Wednesday?).
I think it's the dumbest Japanese TV show ever . . .
but it's pretty funny.

Anyways, the dessert is -------------
A coffee jelly with milk topping !!
Very good ! Oishii yo~!!!

Last Weekend (Part 2)

Ok, this is the last blog series of things happened
while my laptop was broken.I went to the Drift Day
at Camarillo Airport. It was the first time that I
went there since Drift Day had moved there from
the previous location. Taka drove his 1JZ cressida
wagon, Yoshie drove the white Drift 102 corolla gt-s,
and I drove my red IS300. We must've been like a
French flag while we drove together on the freeway !

Camarillo airport still have a few air force air crafts
and it was pretty cool to be able to look at these very
close !

Here are some of the participants and the Drift Day's
Drift 101 rental vehicles !!

This airport is still active for smaller airplanes and
every few minutes, these planes land right next to
our drift courses. So cool !!!

Last weekend (Part 1)

Last weekend was kind of an eventful weekend.
I was invited to a friends place for a Nabe dinner.
Yes, the food was great but the surprise part of
the evening was how much the little girl (Yuma-chan)
loved to ride the toy-horse. She can get up and down
that big horsie by herself ! Pretty amazing what a little
kid can do. I guess parenting is a tough task because
you never know where your little kid will go !!

Next day we had a little BBQ at my house to celebrate
Yoshi~'s win at Formula D Las Vegas. Yoshi~ got a
free chiropractic session from Taka as his winning prize!
The weather was great and food tasted great (especially
the shiitake mushrooms!), but I bought too much Gal-Bi !
Today's guests were more of a drinker than beef eater,
so Taka and I were the only ones eating lots of meat...
Since then I've been eating Gal-bi every meal, every day !!!
No more beef !!!!! (Yet so much left still . . . . . )

little more of what happened while by laptop was broken . . . . .(part 2)

Last week I went to Gardena to say hello to
my local sponsors. I visited Phiten shop and Lot USA.
I will be adding their shops to our"Favorite SHOPs"
section soon. Maybe tonight...
Phiten provides all of Team Driftpro with products
that helps us perform better physically. They have
necklaces, bracelets, shorts, pants, socks, cosmetics,
water, . . . . . a lot of products. Make sure you stop by
their shop if you are around Torrance because it's
right behind the Mitsuwa market.
http://www.phitenusa.com/

Lot USA is the exclusive distributor of the holding
monster BRIDE racing seats. I use the FIA approved
ZETA III in my Chaser and it fits my skinny JDM body
well. Lot USA also have many other JDM brands, so
check out their website ! Shinnosuke is the staff at
Lot USA and he has a nice VW with full BRIDE interior !!

A little more progress on my cressida 1JZ swap project...
The OS Giken Super Single clutch was installed and
both the tranny and the engine is now back in the car.
The driveshaft worked out pretty easy as I swapped the
center bearing piece from the cressida on the the first
section piece of the JZX90 drive shaft.  That was cool !

My favorite...

My favorite Perrier got a new flavor!

some pics of vegas streets....

Ok, I finally got my laptop back.  I brought it for
repair because the cooling fan was making a big
noise, but found out that my harddrive was also
defective.   Hope it performs better now....

Anyways, here are some pics I took after the
Formula D Las Vegas event on the night of
Saturday.
We hit the bar at MGM Grand but got scared away
when this super drunk old lady in red top came out
of nowhere and started to get on top of everyone
whom she saw.
So, we rushed out and walked on the strip to a
korean bbq place.  It was good food !!  And when
we came out of the restaurant, the sun was already
up !!!

hiro

ps. first pic was from the grandstands.  the track was
set up well so that people from all stands had a really
good view !

Cheating & my excuse.

I just visited Formula D website to check if there was any update on driver's profile page.

I am still a somewhat kinda woman who cares about my age...

When I turned in the form of driver info...I wrote my age as..."30+α", which I meant to be I was between 30-39!

But it came out I were 30 years old! hahaha O well.

http://www.formulad.com/drivers/yoshie-shuyama.html

Well, I didn't lie or cheat about my age just to clarify. hehe ;)

Hmmm, maybe I just keep saying I am 30 years old forever? :D

Final Upgrade before Las Vegas

Technosquare modified my e-brake to make the length extend for easier pull yesterday.

It got a bit bigger diameter on the stick (?) part than the original bare metal size, so will see how it would be. =)

---

My car will have an alignment @ Hiro's Auto Repair today!

It's been like more than 1 1/2 year when I did the alignment last time.

Since I kept hitting the walls over & over, my frames were kinda (or totally?) messed up.

I hope it can get aligned the way it should! =)

---

Thank you sooooo much for supporting me! ;)

Yoshie

Weather @ Las Vegas

Looks like...the weather won't be that bad!!

Good luck to everyone who competes Formula D @ Las Vegas, including me! =)

**Edit: OOooooo...I totally forgot we are leaving tomorrow!! I need to prepare tonight!! Last minutes, last minutes as always. hehe.

**Edit 2: I am soooo glad to see Alex Phhhheeeephhhhaaaar (Pfeiffer) driving!! He is one of my heros. ;)

For Las Vegas...

I was/am soooo worried about the heat @ Las Vegas for this weekend.

Anyhow, I bought a cooling vest, and it just came today.  YAY! =)

The material of the vest is thick like my racing suit.

And...the cooling inserts are pretty heavy!  I hope it won't affect my driving.  Will see... ;)

Either way, I will do my best!

PS: Thank you to my team mate, Hiro that donated me for the race gas!

Hydrauilc E-brake

With a lot of help from Technosquare, my hydraulic e-brake was done by the weekend!

It's been working really great @ the Girl's Drift Clinic event on Sat, and it was a great event.

There were more girl drivers than I was expecting..and it seemed like everyone had a great time.
So...hopefully, we will have other events in the future! =)

Anyway, I pulled the e-brake almost all runs, and I got a blister in the end of the day. hahaha
(Sorry for my dirty hand!)

Also, Technosquare did my boost controller set up by the weekend...

Yes, the turbo kicks in faster...and over all, it got a bit more power & torque.

I am soooo lucky to have Technosquare to support me all the time!

Did everyone have a good 4th of July?? ;)

gear ratios . . . . .

Taka's Falken AE86 Turbo is getting a new set of
gears to match the speed range at the Formula D
Las Vegas Rd.4. So, we pulled out the OS Giken
Super Lock L.S.D.
We don't know what the course looks like, so we
just need to estimate from calculations and our
gut feelings to choose what might work the best.
We'll find out Thurs night at the practice !!!

is350 getting ready . . . . .

Finally the brand new K&N air filters are on the car !
The engine bay looks waaaay better with the clean
filters.  It looked awful at Englishtown !! ( <<== my fault ! )

Got the new throttle cable mount made and the throttle
itself feels much smoother now !

See, with the new ride height, I'm getting ready to compete
in the next X Games rally competition !!!

goodies for vegas heat !!!

Ok, las vegas is going to be HOT !!!
I'm trying to at least prepare myself mentally
for the insane heat, but that's never going to be enough...
So, we got a new weapon to battle the boiling temperature
=====>>> the cool suit !!!
Our Team Falken teammate Seigo tried it at the Englishtown
event and he said it really worked well.  I'm hoping this will
help us focus better by keeping out body temp lower than
the ambient temp.  We'll see !!

And we got 8 more new air filters from K&N for the individual
throttle bodies.

The last pics is the fuel cell top plate from last year.  It got a
little wrinkled after the love tap with the k-rail at Sonoma.....

Oil Cooler

Recent update on my S14...

Thank you, Taka!  Installed an oil cooler & oil filter relocation kit for me. ;D

I've never really bought any fittings or hoses...so I didn't expect these would be that expensive!!

And...I am still working on the e-brake system...when I am done, I will update for that, too.

Yes, I am trying to get ready for Formula D @ Las Vegas event!

Happy 4th of July! =)

cleaning off the souvenir from Englishtown !!!

Today my mechanic Scott and Taka was helping out
to change the K&N air filters on the Falken/Discount Tire
IS350.  Since I went off onto the dirt & grass so many times
in Englishtown, the filters HAD to be replaced.
These air filters are individually held on to the carbon
intake by 6 safety wires around each filters.  So, it is a
pain to put these on and off (since there's total of 8 !!! )
And that's why Scott's shooting at his head . . . . hahaha~~!
Althouth these air filters are super dirty from me going off
onto the dirt, the insides were licking clean.  This mean
that those K&N filters are working awesome !!!

The coolest thing about this intake manifold is the oval
throttle body that swivels vertically.  Sorta like a cat's eye !

We had a voltage charging problem in New Jersey, so
we got a new more AMP alternator.  It's a bling bling !!!

That hanging on the wall is the custom one piece exhaust
for this IS350 (^o^)
